Its good times for Kingfisher airlines and its large number of fans – Kingfisher airlines has made its international debut today. The airlines’ maiden direct flight to London took off from Bengaluru International Airport amid much fanfare despite inclement weather.
Ganesh Chaturthi was certainly an auspicious day for Vijay Mallaya who has claimed another laurel for his wreath. After the enormous success of the Force India venture in Formula 1, this is certainly a major step in his illustrious career.
"The non-stop flight (IT 001) departed at 09:20, 40 minutes behind schedule due to inaugural ceremony and formalities. The Airbus (A330-200) was full," an airline spokesperson said.
Vijay Mallaya was present at the inauguration along with many other dignitaries. Praful Patel , the Civil Aviation Minister flagged off the flight and boarded the aircraft along with Mallya and the other VIPs. The Kingfisher flight will operate daily following the Bangalore-London-Bangalore route, with a capacity of 217, including 30 in first class and 187 in the business class.
