Sequel Mania – Phoonk 2 and Golmal Returns

Ram Gopal Verma has been possessed. He plans to make the sequel to Phoonk, very cleverly titled Phoonk 2.

Phoonk, although critically panned managed to rake in some money for RGV thanks to some viral marketing and horror hungry youngsters. The spirit possessing RGV has not only managed to lure him back to Phoonk, but also has convinced him to drop Sarkar 3 down the drain.

Phoonk 2 will take place immediately after the disturbing events at the climax of the original movie. In Phoonk 2, Ashwini Kalsekar, after being defeated by Mr Tantrik in the first film decides to have a little fun by becoming a jolly ghost and taking Mr Tantrik out before possessing Amruta Khanvilkar’s body and giving high BP to Sudeep.

When asked about this surreal decision, RGV replied that “Supernatural themes will never go out of vogue as long as the fear of the unknown exists".

But since in this case the audience already knows the story (read above)… and with that plot there really ought to be much to fear for RGV. Unless he does some major black magic, Phoonk 2 will obliterate like a puff of smoke.

On the other hand, there is a lot of cheer and buzz about the upcoming sequel to Golmal. Golmal Returns has finished filming and it’s first promos and songs are just a few days away from the televisions. Golmal Returns brings back all the funnymen sans Sharman Joshi. Shrayas Talpade steps into Sharman’s shoes this time around and promises some laugh out loud moments. Kareena Kapoor, Amrita Arora, Celina Jaitley and Anjana Sukhani star alongside Ajay Devgan, Tushar Kapoor Arshad Warsi and Shrayas Talpade.
